Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.-
- Author details: Relevant details of the authors should be written on the first page of the manuscript. This should be in the order: First name; Middle name(s); Last name. Only those who have contributed to the manuscript should be listed as authors and their roles should be stated under “Authors’ Roles” using the abbreviations of their names. E.g., “EEB conceptualized the study; RIO and DOU carried out the experiments. The entire study was supervised by EEB and EKIO. All authors read the manuscript and approved its submission”. To be listed as authors, persons are expected to meet the criteria stated in International Committee of Medical Journal Editors’ (ICMJE’s) requirements for authorship. The email address and telephone numbers of the corresponding author should be stated.
-Word count for titles: Not more than 25.
-Abstract: Maximum word count of 300. Structure for original research should be organized as: Background and purpose; Methods; Results; Conclusion.
-Keywords: Between 3 and 5.
-The main text: Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results; Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgements; References.
-Funding details: This should be part of the acknowledgement.
-Figures: These should be of very high quality (1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale and 300 dpi for colour, at the correct size). Figures should be supplied in one of these file formats: EPS, PS, JPEG, GIF, or Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX).
-Tables: They should be prepared with headings and footnotes such that they can be understood without necessarily referring to the text.
-Equations: They should be written with appropriate software.
